Reckless — Book Review ⭐⭐⭐⭐½ Reckless was so much better than Powerless . I didn’t like Powerless because I found it quite similar to other books I had read, but Reckless felt much more original. I think this was the book where I actually got to experience Lauren Roberts’ writing style and see what kind of an author she truly is.
A Whole New Story
One of my favorite things about Reckless was that it didn’t feel like a repeat of Powerless. The trials were no longer the main focus, and instead, the story became something completely new. There were so many more twists, unexpected situations, and moments where Paedyn was just mere inches away from her doom, it was so intense.
I also loved how much more the characters had to move around. While Powerless was mostly set in Ilya, Reckless constantly took Paedyn and Kai from place to place.
Paedyn & Kai
One of my favorite parts was that Kai could no longer use his power, which meant that he and Paedyn were finally on equal ground. I really liked seeing them without Kai having that advantage because it changed their dynamic and made their situations feel much more unpredictable.
The Pacing
Reckless was much easier to get through than powerless it was shorter and not the least bit boring i finished it in just a week.
One thing that kept me reading was wanting to find out what Paedyn’s punishment would be after everything she had done in the first book.
The Ending
I seriously was NOT expecting the book to end the way it did. The ending left me with so many questions, and after that cliffhanger, I am bound to read Fearless. Lauren Roberts really knew how to leave me wanting more.
Final Thoughts
If you liked Powerless, you should read Reckless and if u didn’t like it you should still read Reckless. For me, it was a huge improvement and felt much more original, exciting, and true to Lauren Roberts’ writing style.
Overall, I give Reckless ⭐⭐⭐⭐½ out of 5 stars.
